At Her Place with Rachel

Image
I'll let you in on a little secret: I rarely rely exclusively on natural light for these shoots. There usually isn't enough of it, and the shadows can be pretty harsh. So, I bring one studio light and one reflector to complement whatever light I find on location. Ideally, the effect is subtle enough that no one notices. Rachel's place was a challenge. It was a basement apartment in a building that had no right to have basement apartments. The only natural light came from a window in the front door. Fortunately, that was next to where Rachel kept her elegant canopy bed. It wasn't much, but it was magical. Follow on Instagram: Duke Photo , Rachel

At Her Place with Caitlin

Most At Her Place shoots are planned and scheduled weeks in advance. In contrast, Caitlin reached out about the project and we shot the next day. Sometimes art just happens that way. Originally published in B-Authentique magazine, April, 2018 Follow on Instagram: Duke Photo ; Caitlin
